Mumbai: 13-year-old killed by schoolmates for staring at a girl

A 13-year-old student was killed allegedly by his schoolmates inside their school premises in Ahmednagar district for "staring at a girl", police said.
The deceased, Kiran Goraksh Sonawane, was a class VII student of the Nutan School at Rajapur in Sangamner tehsil.
The school is managed by Pragatik Shikshan Sanstha.
"Kiran's head was smashed against a bench and later, against a tree in the school. The provocation was that he used to stare at a girl," a police official from Sangamner city police station said.
"The incident took place on June 26, police said. After the assault he was admitted to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on July 1. Initially, it was a case of accidental death but subsequently an FIR was registered yesterday," police said.
An FIR under section 302 (34) (murder) of the IPC has been lodged against three students whose names are known to the authorities and against "five to six" other students whose identity is yet to be ascertained, he said.
No arrests have been made in this connection. Meanwhile, Kiran's mother has alleged that her son was the victim of a "vendetta" killing. She also denied allegation that he used to state at girls.
