Finally, MP CM asks for CBI probe into Vyapam scam

Just in: The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh has asked for a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam. The MP CM gives into pressure and has asked the high court for a CBI probe, he announced at a press conference on the issue now.  At least 47 people connected with the scam have been found dead.


The announcement comes even as the Supreme Court today agreed to hear petitions filed by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and others for a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam.


A bench headed by chief justice H L Dattu agreed to give an urgent hearing and posted all petitions on the scam for July 9.


Various people including activists, lawyers, politicians belonging to opposition parties, and whistleblower of the scam had approached the apex court for a CBI probe.
