The Outlook magazine today approached the police in the wake of reported threats to its correspondent here after a row over an article containing alleged defamatory and objectionable remarks against a senior woman IAS officer.

"We have been receiving a number of emails, anonymous SMSes and tweets threatening the physical safety of Madhavi Tata, who is the Outlook magazine's correspondent based in Hyderabad.

She has also been subjected to sexist abuse," Krishna Prasad, editor-in-chief of the magazine, said in a letter addressed to Telangana director general of police, a copy of which was released to press.

The police was urged to look into the matter and take every step that is necessary to ensure the safety of the reporter.
