Army officer given gallantry award on R-Day killed in encounter today

The Army Commanding Officer, who was injured in an encounter today, in Tral, South Kashmir, has succumbed to his injuries. He had been moved to hospital after he was injured in the attack, but could not survive.

Tragically, he had just been given a gallantry award on Republic Day, yesterday.

Two militants were killed in the encounter. A policemen has been injured.
