Former Maharashtra home minister R R Patil battles for life

Former home minister RR Patil, 57, is battling for life at the intensive care unit of Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. The senior Nationalist Congress Party leader, who has been hospitalised for over a fortnight at the Bandra hospital, is on ventilator support, The Times of India reports.

Patil has been undergoing treatment for malignancy for the past two weeks. His condition is said to have rapidly deteriorated over the last four days when the doctors decided to move him to the ICU.

The hospital has refused to divulge any details about his medical condition.
