Gautam Buddha does not welcome all to 1 Aney Marg any more. The shining brass sculpture that hung from atop a sofa in the drawing room has vanished since Jitan Ram Manjhi moved in seven months ago.

The statue was the presiding deity in the new drawing hall Nitish Kumar got built in the extended part of 1 Aney Marg. Also missing at the chief minister's official residence now is the utmost care once accorded to anything remotely connected to the Buddha.
