LC Goyal takes charge as new Home Secretary

L C Goyal, a 1979-batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre arrived at the ministry of home affairs to take charge as the new Home Secretary. Goyal was appointed to the post after the government sacked Anil Goswami for intervening in the CBI probe against former union minister Matang Sinh. Goyal will hold the post for a period of two years.

This is the second instance of the removal of a top bureaucrat in a week after Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh's services were curtailed last Wednesday after she refused to resign from the post.
