Patel agitation: Protests turn violent in Ahmedabad

Hundreds of protestors gathered at Ahmedabad's GMDC ground went berserk and destroyed several vehicles after police resorted to lathicharge.

Earlier, the agitation of the Patel community turned violent with clashes being reported in various parts of Ahmedabad forcing the police to baton charge the agitators. Police also lobbed teargas shells to control the situation.

Clashes between Patel community members and local residents were reported in Vadaj, Vastrapur, Nikol and Paldi areas when they tried to enforce a bandh called by their community leader Hardik Patel after their mega rally, reports India Today.
