Hardik Patel, demanding reservation for Patel community, detained: Report

Just in: 21-year-old Hardik Patel, who is leading the campaign in Gujarat for
quota for Patel community, has been detained by the police in Ahmedabad
for unlawful public gathering, reports NDTV.
Earlier, in the day Hardik addressed a mega rally in the city which saw the participation of around 3 lakh people from the Patel community.
Addressing a massive gathering at the GMDC ground in Ahmedabad, the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti convenor mentioned the lack of initiative by the government in resolving the reservation issue.

He said: "We are sons of Sardar Patel, revolution begins from where we stand. We do not belong to any political party. We belong to Patidar community. We declare August 25 as Patidar Kranti Diwas."
He warned that "the lotus (the BJP symbol) will not blossom in 2017" if the Patel community is not placed under the OBC status.
