Hudhud aftermath: Modi optimistic of rehabilitation efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a survey of cyclone-hit Vizag and Visakhapatnam. After his survey, addressing the media, PM Modi said that cyclone Hudhud had caused severe damage. "We are with the state of Andhra and Odisha and the Centre extends all help in rehabilitation,' said Modi. He added that the MET department had efficiently made used of technology, which helped in saving the lives of many people. He also extended his condolences to the families who had lost their loved ones in the cyclone. "I firmly believe that we will overcome this challenge soon and electricity, water and communications links will be restored," he added. The PM also announced a Rs 2 lakh compensation for kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those who were injured.
