British MPs to hold non-binding vote to recognise Palestine

British lawmakers were to vote today on whether to recognise Palestine as a state in a debate unlikely to change government policy but laden with political symbolism.

The House of Commons debate was being watched around the world after Sweden drew anger from Israel this month for saying it would recognise Palestine.
