At a quiet retreat outside Kathmandu Pak may give in on agreements

A last-ditch effort is being made to salvage the SAARC summit. Pakistan stalled the inking of SAARC connectivity agreements, including the motor vehicle pact, saying it was yet to complete its "internal process".

PM Narendra Modi has held one-on-one meetings with all heads of state at SAARC except Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The Pakistani PM has said the ball is in India's court because Delhi cancelled talks earlier this year after the Pakistani envoy consulted Kashmiri separatists ahead of a scheduled dialogue between the Foreign Secretaries of both countries.

The way Pak may be cajoled to come around is at an informal retreat outside Kathmandu tomorrow.

Other countries, including India and Sri Lanka, have been strongly pitching for strengthening the people-to-people contact and movement of goods in the region.
