Will Bal Thackeray be the ice-breaker for the BJP, Sena? On the Shiv Sena founder's 2nd death anniversary, the BJP-led Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra has given its nod to a memorial for Bal Thackeray. The government has said it will consult Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray over the issue.

The announcement to build the memorial was made during Bal Thackerays first death anniversary on November 17 last year. A committee headed by NCP chief Sharad Pawar had also taken the responsibility to look for space for the memorial. The plan for the memorial at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse did not take off, after the party was refused permission by the previous state government led by Congress-NCP alliance.
