Chidambaram breaks silence, says UPA should have cancelled licences

Former finance minister P Chidambaram broke his silence on the 2G scam today and said that the United Progressive Alliance government should have cancelled the licences when the scam came to light. He added that the government should not have waited for the court's judgment in the matter. The Comptroller and Auditor-General of India had, in its report, estimated a presumptive loss ranging from Rs 57,000 crore to Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer due to the allocation.
