Why no Leader of Opposition? The Congress' strength of 44 members in the Lok Sabha does not entitle it for the post of the Leader of Opposition as a minimum number of 54 MPs -- which is 10 per cent of the House strength - is required for the largest opposition party to be entitled for the post. This rule was framed by the first Lok Sabha Speaker, GV Mavalankar, a report in The Economic Times says.
