Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth gets 6-month extension

Ajit Seth has been given a six-month extension as Cabinet Secretary, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi signing the file today. Ajit Seth is a 1974 IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, and served the Dr Manmohan Singh regime for four years. By giving this extension, Modi is believed to have upset many senior Secretaries to the Government of India who were hoping to get a leg up in the new dispensation.
