NC: Attack to coincide with Indo-Pak meet in US

Update on the attack at Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.

Heavily-armed militants dressed in army fatigues on Thursday attacked a police station in Kathua, killing five persons, including four policemen, before targeting an army camp in nearby Samba where six army personnel have been reportedly killed, in a terror strike 72 hours ahead of a meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

The militants dressed as army fatigues first attacked the Hira Nagar police station in Kathua district in Jammu region and killed four policemen and two civilians. Read

The National Conference says the attack could have come ahead of the Indo-Pak talks in New York. As of now, the talks between PM Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif are on.
