Gunfight still on, Lt Col killed in terror attack

A defence spokesman in Jammu confirmed that three army soldiers were killed and an equal number wounded in the ongoing gunfight in Samba town of Jammu region, reports Rediff.com's Mukhtar Ahmad from Srinagar.

He said the injured soldiers were evacuated to hospital for treatment. One of the three soldiers killed in the attack include a Lieutenant Colonel.

After attacking the Hiranagar police station, the militants wearing army fatigues barged into the army camp at Samba on the Jammu-Delhi national highway firing indiscriminately from automatic weapons. Sources here say that a senior army officer was among the three killed in the Samba army camp attack. "The gunfight is on,' the spokesman said.
