The Uttarakhand government has submitted a report on the rescue and rehabilitation operations in the flood-devastated state. The government says the top priority now remains indentification and disposal of the bodies. Evacuation will be completed in 72 hours if weather permits. Clearing of debris remains high on the agenda, the government said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the central and Uttarakhand governments to provide immediate relief to those affected by the devastating floods in the state.

The help should include food, drinking water, medicines and fuel, judges A.K. Patnaik and Ranjan Gogoi said.

The apex court bench said relief material must be provided to the affected and stranded people without any discrimination.
