Reason for crash not known yet

The exact reason for the crash is not known yet. The helicopter was returning from Kedarnath, the epicentre of the devastation caused by heavy rain and landslides.

Choppers have been pressed into operation ever since the disaster happened since air rescue was the only way the stranded could be reached. Inclement weather, wind and rain has made flying difficult. This morning, all air operations had been stopped since visibility due to mist was low.

The rescue operation in Uttarakhand is the largest of its kind for the Air Force.
