Nitish Kumar starts talking to Independents for support
June 16, 2013  10:31
It is certain that the BJP will skip the Cabinet meeting convened by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at 11.30 am, but the latter is now exploring options to dismiss the BJP ministers in case they abstain, reports Vicky Nanjappa.

While Kumar is certain that he will break the alliance, the next task ahead of him would be to garner the necessary support to keep his government afloat.

Sources say that Kumar has already started talking to the independent MLAs in Bihar for their support. He has called four independent MLAs for talks.

At the moment, however, it appears that his government will have no problem in sailing through post-BJP. He has 118 MLAs in a house where the magic number is 122.

One of the independent MLAs who wished not to be named told rediff.com that they are keeping an open mind and in the interest of stability would consider supporting the government in case a trust vote is called.

However, these MLAs are likely to bargain hard and seek lucrative positions, which the JDU is likely to oblige.
