Lok Sabha polls: BJP divided over pre-poll alliance in Tamil Nadu
December 01, 2013  12:52
Reports our correspondent in New Delhi: The BJP is divided over an alliance with the DMK in the Lok Sabha polls.

While the state unite of Tamil Nadu wants a pre-poll alliance, the central leadership has ruled out this possibility.

On December 15, the central committee of the DMK is expected to meet to discuss the political situation in Tamil Nadu and to set up an anti-Jaya, anti- Congress group soon.

The BJP central leadership took stock of the scene in Tamil Nadu on Friday. Modi stated he would keep out of the state, as he felt the need to focus more on Karnataka -- to revive the BJP and try to retain the present LS seats.

Modi will not contact AIADMK for a pre-poll alliance either, say sources. The BJP feels it can concentrate more on Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as a compensation for the two or three seats it may lose in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP central leadership strongly feels that Jayalalitaa will not ally with the Congress.
