German bakery blast: Pune court verdict today
April 15, 2013  08:31
A sessions court will on Monday pronounce the judgment in the German Bakery blast case. The blast had rocked the city three years ago.

The 2010 terror attack had killed 17 people, injured 64 and wrecked the popular eatery. It was the first major terror strike in Pune that dented its tag of being a peaceful city.

The attack on German Bakery, located in upmarket Koregaon Park area and referred to as Pune's very own Cafe Leopold, had proved that Pune was very much on the terror radar.

The attack had highlighted the need for strengthening security and surveillance system in the city.

It was around 7 pm on February 13, 2010 that the powerful blast ripped through the eatery packed with visitors.

Five foreigners were among the 17 killed in the terror attack -- the first after the 26/11 attacks of Mumbai in 2008.
