British Airways today resumed flights to Sri Lanka, nearly 15 years after the service was suspended due to the country's three-decade-long civil war.

A British Airways Boeing 777 touched down at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport, marking the resumption of services, the ministry of economic development said.

The service was suspended in 1998 due to the escalation of the civil war that ended in 2009.
