Accused Baig convicted in German Bakery blast

A sessions court has delivered its verdict on Pune's German Bakery bomb blast in February 2010, in which 17 people were killed and 64 others were injured.

Mirza Himayat Baig, from Udgir in Maharashtra, the only suspect in the case, has been convicted as a co-conspirator in the case. He was arrested after the investigators found 1,200 kg of explosives from his home in Udgir in Latur district. Five others are still wanted in the case.

Others who have been named in the case are Mohsin Choudhary, Yasin Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Faiyaz Kagzi.

The Pune blast was seen as the first major attack on India since the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
