Self-immolations: China blames Dalai Lama
October 24, 2012  20:48
China today blamed the Dalai Lama for the spate of self-immolations taking place in Tibet against Chinese rule, saying they were 'instigated' by the exiled spiritual leader's clique.

"To our knowledge most of the self-immolation cases are closely instigated by Dalai group," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters, while replying to questions on over 50 self-immolations, many of them by monks and nuns, in the recent months in different parts of Tibetan areas calling for the return of Dalai Lama from exile in India.
