BJP wants EC to chop off Congress hand symbol

Buzz at 9, Ashok Road, the headquarters of the BJP in New Delhi is that the party's legal wing is seriously considering whether it should petition the Election Commission. The BJP is seeking to de-recognise the All India Congress Committee's hand symbol.

The BJP will push the case for the consideration of the Election Commission.
"We shall argue it," said a senior lawyer who is drafting the show cause notice to AICC. Obviously, this is another plank that the BJP will use to catapult more votes in its favour in the Gujarat elections.

Subramanian Swamy on Thursday targeted Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi raising questions over acquisition of a company that published the now-defunct National Herald newspaper to which Congress gave a loan of over Rs 90 crore.

He said Sonia and Rahul had floated a Section 25 company called 'Young Indian', each with a share holding of 38 per cent, which acquired Associated Journals, founded by the late Jawaharlal Nehru that published the National Herald and Quami Awaz. Read more
