Government may agree to partial rollback of fare hike

According to some media reports, the government has decided to partially roll back the fare hike.

TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had vowed on Wednesday that the decision to hike fares was against the interest of the common man and her party would never agree to it.

Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi had argued that the fare hike was necessary to secure funds for the development of infrastructure, installing safety measures etc.
