Gogoi: If Centre knew, why wasn't Army sent earlier?

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi's press conference is just over.
First, the figures: 4 lakh refugees in 203 camps; 45 dead; 200 arrested.

Gogoi said there is fear and terror among both communities -- Bodos and Muslims, but the fact remains that the state was not given any intelligence inputs. He said if the Centre knew about what was happening, why didn't they send the Army in earlier.

He reiterated that there are no refugees from Bangladesh, nor is there any foreign hand.  He said Assam had a history of ethnic clashes, and he does not need a report card on what is happening in his state.

Gogoi said he kept asking the Centre to send Central forces.
