Akhilesh restores Mayawati's beheaded statue

Meanwhile, the statue of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has been restored overnight at the Ambedkar Park in Gomtinagar, Lucknow.

This was done following orders of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. A marble statute of Mayawati was vandalised yesterday. A little known political outfit UP Navnirman Sena has taken responsibility of the incident. Tension prevailed in several areas of the state after the statue was broken.
