NE exodus: MHA asks IB, cops to monitor websites

The government has asked social network sites to monitor posts and keep it informed for inflammatory messages and content. The Home Ministry said that sites carrying inflammatory messages or propaganda can be blocked.

The MHA also said that social networking sites will be monitored to find out the origin of the SMSes through which rumours were spread to generate panic in Bangalore. In an advisory, the MHA asked Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh to reach out to the leaders of the Northeast communities to sensitise them about the steps taken by the authorities to provide them full security.
