Gaddafi's son pleads for ICC trial

AFP reports: Slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's son Seif al-Islam believes he should be tried beforethe International Criminal Court if justice is to be served, his lawyers said on Tuesday.

"The only way for Libya and the Libyan people to havejustice is for the ICC to try this case in a fair, impartialand independent manner," he was quoted as saying in a defencedocument submitted to the court.

The Hague-based ICC has issued warrants against both Seifand his late father's spymaster, Abdullah Senussi, for crimesagainst humanity committed while trying to put down lastyear's bloody revolt.
