Landslides shut Jammu-Srinagar highway

The 300-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed to vehicular traffic on Monday following a series of landslides triggered by incessant rains, police said.

The landslides occurred

between Ramban and Banihal late on Sunday night.
 
Several hundred vehicles -- government-run and private -- are stranded at different places on the highway, police said.
