RTI activist held in Mumbai for remarks against Modi

The Mumbai police arrested a Right to Information activist for his "derogatory" remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya among others, the police said on Saturday.      

The accused identified as Ghulam Qazi is an RTI activist, the police said.   

"We have registered a case under Indian Penal Code Sections 509, 500,506 (2) and 504 against the accused and taken him into custody," the police said.      

An official of Mumbai's Sakinaka police station said that the accused made alleged "derogatory" remarks against the prime minister and other leaders in a Facebook post.      

"The accused allegedly threatened them," the police added.  -- ANI
