Cong makes it official: Sidda CM, DKS only Dy CM

The Congress party makes its official announcement on the Karnataka CM post. "Ours is a democratic party, we believe in consensus, not dictatorship," says Congress General Secretary Venugopal on Karnataka CM selection. "We have decided on Siddaramiah as CM of Karnataka; D K Shivakumar will be the only Deputy CM. Shivakumar to continue as party's Karnataka state president till Parliamentary elections. Newly elected MLAs' meeting this evening in Bengaluru to formally elect new Karnataka CM; Swearing-in ceremony on May 20."

Asked about the much-talked-about power-sharing formula between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, Venugopal said the only power-sharing formula is to share the power with the people of Karnataka.

Earlier Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President, shared this picture alongside tweeting, "Team Congress is committed to usher progress, welfare and social justice for the people of Karnataka.

We will implement the 5 guarantees promised to 6.5 Cr Kannadigas."
