Maoist commander surrenders before police in Telangana

A member of the banned CPI -Maoist party, allegedly involved in various extremist activities in Telangana and neighbouring Chhattisgarh, surrendered before the police in Mulugu district on Friday. 

M Jogaiah alias Jangu, CPI -Maoist Telangana state committee action team commander, had joined the party in 2016. 

Later, he was promoted as area committee member and inducted into the "action team' as a member and elevated as action team commander of the CPI -Maoist Telangana state committee till August 2022, a release from the police said. 

He was involved in the murders of civilians, encounter with security forces, it said. 

According to police, disenchantment with the CPI -Maoist ideology, discrimination against cadres of lower rank and beating them up indiscriminately were among the reasons for turning himself in. -- PTI
