Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on co-founder and former CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey's claim on 'pressure' from India: "This is an outright lie by Jack Dorsey -- perhaps an attempt to brush out that very dubious period of twitters history. Twitter under Dorsey & his team were in repeated & continuous violations of Indian law. As a matter of fact, they were in non-compliance with law repeatedly from 2020 to 2022 and it was only June 2022 when they finally complied. No one went to jail nor was Twitter "shutdown". Dorsey's Twitter regime had a problem accepting the sovereignty of Indian law...," tweets Chandrasekhar.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey said Twitter received numerous requests from India to block accounts related to farmers' protests and those expressing criticism towards the government.

Dorsey mentioned that India had put pressure on Twitter, including threats of shutting down the platform in the country, conducting raids on employees' homes, and closing down Twitter offices, all because of their refusal to comply. Dorsey emphasised that these actions were taking place in a democratic country like India.

'We would raid the homes of your employees, which they did; we will shut down your offices if you don't follow suit. And this is India, a democratic country," said Dorsey on pressure from India.

Dorseys comments came as he was asked to give some examples of pressure from foreign governments so that the audience had an idea how it felt when some of the most powerful people" on the planet approached him and demanded things from the company.
