Update: CR Kesavan on his resignation from the Congress party: "A senior Congress leader demanded proof of the surgical strike, it is disheartening. I realized that my way of doing politics is not in line with the party, so I did not even join 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. I felt I didn't belong here anymore.

"I have been a member of the Congress party for last 22 years, but unfortunately over a period of time, I feel in INC, the attitude and approach were neither constructive nor concrete. The values which I worked for, had changed."

CR Kesavan is the great-grandson of India's first Indian Governor-General, C Rajagopalachari. He resigned from the Congress party today.

In a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Kesavan shared his resignation letter on Twitter and said that he can no longer concur with "what the party symbolizes, stands for nor seeks to propagate".
