PM Narendra Modi's Diwali plans:
The prime minister will visit Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebration on the eve of Diwali on October 23. This will be the state's sixth Deepotsav (festival of lamps) in Ram ki Paidi ghats.

The PM will offer prayers to Lord Ramlala Virajman, followed by an inspection of the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra site. 

He will perform the Rajyabhishek of the symbolic Bhagwan Shree Ram, says the PMO.

Modi will then witness aarti at the New Ghat by the Saryu river, which will kickstart the grand Deepotsav celebrations.

This year, as many as 17 lakh earthen lamps will be illuminated at Ayodhya to celebrate Diwali. Last year, 9 lakh earthen lamps were lit as part of the Deepotsav celebration. In 2020, 5.84 lakh diyas were lit to create a new record.
