US Pres Joe Biden at the US-Japan joint statement in Tokyo: "Tomorrow, we're going to meet our fellow Quad partners- Australia & India -- for our Leaders' Summit and our 2nd meeting together in person. Quad is showing the world that cooperation among democracies can get big things done," Biden said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Tokyo on Monday, will meet top business leaders of Japan while he will also be attending the Indo-Pacific economic framework event (IPEF).

The US President will launch IPEF this evening. The IPEF is an initiative of the US President which is seen as a move to counter Chinese influence in the region. Biden will unveil the IPEF while more details of the initiative are still to be known.

The Quad, or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, which comprises India, the US, Japan, and Australia is a regional formation based on shared interests over cooperation in the strategic Indo-Pacific region. The member nations say they share values of "democracy, freedom and rule-based international order".
