Russia bombed more than 1,000 schools in Ukraine

Ukraine updates: 
-- The Ukrainian government says Russia has shelled more than 1,000 schools, destroying 95. The International Criminal Court, prosecutors from across the globe and Ukraine's prosecutor general are investigating more than 8,000 reports of potential war crimes in Ukraine involving 500 suspects. Many are accused of aiming deliberately at civilian structures like hospitals, shelters and residential neighbourhoods.

The western Ukrainian city of Lviv has been rocked by number of very loud explosions.
  An Associated Press team in the city witnessed the glare of bright explosions which lit up the night sky to the west of the city shortly after midnight local time.

-- The head of the world's largest humanitarian network said Monday that Europe's speedy acceptance of millions of Ukrainians fleeing Russia's aggression demonstrates its 'double standard' in dealing with people fleeing violence in Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere who cross the Mediterannean Sea and are not welcomed.

-- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the evacuation of the fighters from Azovstal to separatist-controlled territory saved their lives.
More than 260 Ukrainian fighters, including some who are badly wounded, were evacuated Monday from a steel plant in the ruined city of Mariupol and taken to areas under Russia's control, according to a Ukrainian military said.
