'93 Bombay serial blasts: 29 years later 4 arrests

Gujarat ATS arrests four accused in the 1993 Bombay serial blasts case.
"We had detained the 4 on suspicion of fake passports. On a detailed probe, it was ascertained that they were wanted accused in the 1993 Bombay serial blasts. They were then arrested. Their original names are Abu Bakar, Yusuf Bhatka, Shoeb Baba, Sayyed Qureshi," Gujarat ATS DIG Deepan Bhadra said. 

"They were trained in PoK for weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices. They had (recently) come back to India for passport modification which is  when we received inputs and traced them."

The 1993 Bombay serial blasts took place on 12 March 1993. The single-day attacks of 12 blasts resulted in 257 fatalities and 1,400 injuries.

The attacks were coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim through his subordinates Tiger Memon and Yakub Memon.
