Lt Gen Anil Chauhan new CDS?

Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, who served as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command, may be the new Chief of Defense Staff. The Lt Gen has been appointed the National Maritime Security Coordinator within the National Security Council Secretariat under National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Yesterday, the Centre amended the rules of appointing CDS.

Any serving or retired Lieutenant General, Air Marshal and Vice Marshal and Vice Admiral under the age of 62 years is now eligible for the post of CDS. The post has been lying vacant after India's first CDS General Bipin Rawat was killed in a chopper crash.
