Singer Daler Mehndi sentenced to jail for 2 years

Singer Daler Mehndi sentenced to two years imprisonment in a human trafficking case of 2003. He has been taken into custody by the police. His application for release on probation also dismissed by court, says Advocate Gurmeet Singh, the complainant's lawyer.

Daler Mehndi and his brother took two troupes in 1998 and 1999 during the course of which 10 persons were taken to the US as group members and "dropped off" illegally.

Daler, on a trip to the US in the company of an actress, had allegedly "dropped off" three girls at San Francisco.
