Salman Chishti, Khadim of Ajmer Sharif Dargah, was arrested by the Rajasthan Police on Tuesday night, for making provocative comments against suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nupur Sharma.

"It was brought to my notice that Salman Chishti, Khadim of Ajmer Dargah shared an objectionable video and FIR was filed. He was nabbed from his house and is being questioned. It seems he was in an inebriated state when video was made. He is a history-sheeter,"  Additional Superintendent of Police, Vikas Sangwan said.

In a video, the cleric says he would give his house to anyone who brings Nupur Sharma's head to him.

He is also heard saying he would have shot her dead for insulting the Prophet.

Rajasthan is on the edge after the gruesome murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, shortly after he alleged that he had been receiving threats over his social media post in support of Sharma.
