Congress's Kishore Upadhyay likely to join BJP today

In a major setback to Congress ahead of the February 14 Uttarakhand assembly polls, former party state chief Kishore Upadhyay is likely to join the BJP today, said sources.

According to them, Upadhyay could contest the assembly polls from the Tehri constituency.

Earlier, Congress released its third list of candidates for the polls which did not mention Upadhyay. This further increased speculation of him joining the BJP.

Sources close to Upadhyay told ANI that he wanted the revocation of suspension from all party posts and had conveyed this to the Congress leadership too.

Upadhyay was removed from all the party posts recently as a disciplinary action.
