Another Bharatiya Janata Party ally the Hindustani Awam Morcha has announced its support to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's move to end the alliance with the saffron party and join hands with the Mahagathbandhan of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and Left parties to form the next government in Bihar.

The  HAM has 4 MLAs in the state assembly.

Former chief minister and HAM supremo Jitan Ram Manjhi said that it was decided in the meeting of his party MLAs to support Kumar.

"I had said earlier that HAM will remain with Kumar and will support his decision. This was formally decided today after Kumar ended ties with the BJP."

With HAM extending its support to Kumar, he now enjoys the support of 164 MLAs in the Bihar assembly of 243 members.

The RJD with 79 MLAs is a single largest party followed by the BJP (77) and the JD-U with 45. The Congress has 19 MLAs and Left parties have 16 MLAs.

Now the BJP in Bihar is left with only one ally, the Lok JanShakti Party of Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras.
