Abconding politician Shrikant Tyagi has been arrested near Noida in Uttar Pradesh, ANI reported quoting police sources.

In a recent viral video, Tyagi was seen assaulting and abusing a woman at Grand Omaxe in Noida's Sector 93 and was on a run ever since.

The UP government on Monday used a bulldozer to raze illegal construction outside the ground floor apartment of Tyagi at the housing society in Noida.

Until he went underground Friday night, Tyagi claimed he was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, even as the ruling party denied any links with him. -- ANI/PTI
