Pratham CEO Dr Rukmini Banerji is this years recipient of the prestigious Yidan Prize for Education Development for her work on improving childrens learning levels.

Eric A Hanushek, Paul and Jean Hanna -- Senior Fellow and Professor, Hoover Institution of Stanford University, are the other recipients of the prize. 

Each laureate is awarded HK$ 30 million -- approximately US$ 3.9 million-- half of which is a project fund to help them scale up their work.

The Yidan Prize is the world's highest education accolade.

The prize is in recognition of their ground-breaking work addressing a crucial piece of the education puzzle: improving quality of education and outcomes for learners at scale.

Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown in both scope and scale, with programs today reaching children and youth across the country.
