Not allowed to leave Lucknow airport, says Rahul

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and his entourage are now waiting at Lucknow airport to head to Lakhimpur Khera.

The distance of 130 km will be traversed by road.

This is the hiccup now:

"We want to go in our car (to Lakhimpur Kheri) but they (police) want to take us in their vehicle. I asked them to let me go in my personal vehicle. They're planning something. I'm sitting here," Rahul Gandhi said.

He added, "What kind of permission have I been granted by the UP Govt? These people are not letting me go out of the airport."

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel who is also at Lucknow airport with Rahul announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the farmers and the journalist who were mowed down by the SUV belonging to MoS Ajay Mishra Teni.

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi who is part of the entourage along with KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala matched the Chhattisgarh government's compensation.
